Green Bay Mourns Retirement of Brett Favre
I was in shock. At 8 this morning an announcement over the radio told us that possibly Brett Favre was retiring. The story was first heard from Jay Glazer a prominent and reliable sports reporter at Fox Sports. Later on we heard from Packers headquarters that yes, it's true,Brett Favre is retiring after seventeen years with the Green Bay Packers. Our city is airing news and memories of Brett on local television stations. The city is in mourning as we were basically the last to be told. It was not the way we wanted it. We deserved to hear it from our hero himself right off the bat. This day may become a holiday in Green Bay. A live conference is to be aired at 3pm central time with Ted Thompson ,the general manager,and Mike McCarthy the head coach. I will miss the gunslinger, his joy of the game he brought each and everytime to the sport. The crazy nail biting finishes at times, the fantastic wins he gave us. When he was hurt ,we all were. This fan will enjoy all the memories as much as I can but come pre-season it just won't be the same. We love you Brett,come say good-bye to us in person.You will be missed.
